iKibic - Intranet Knowledge Base
Intranet application iKibic is online knowledgebase resource for all employees of Orange Slovakia (OSK).
Application's objective is to store and share information between employees, information such as phone plans, phones sales prices, manuals, accounts information and so on.
Application is used by sales people as well as phone support employees.
Logically this application is part of Orange Intranet but uses different technologies.
Application was written using Open Source technologies Java and PHP.
Database backend is MySQL. These are not standard technologies for OSK.
ALTASO and Medium 13 have a lot of experience using Open Source.
Short project preformed in summer 2009 had the following three pieces:
1. Research, test and document possibilities to connect using secure VPN connection and proxy servers to OSK application development servers from anywhere (Cisco VPN client, RSA SecurID Software Token, Putty, PuttyGen, Proxies, SSH, ...)
2. Research and setup MySQL DB replication between two iKibic servers - make master2master reapplication works and document process
3. Basic performance audit of application with focus on database performance, document current status and provide suggestions for future improvements.
